US President Barack Obama has implored Americans for patience in allowing his administration to continue to rebuild the economy should he win a second term of office. In an nomination acceptance speech that was in marked contrast to the message of his 2008 campaign, President Obama said that the journey was ânever going to be easyâ and he would not promise that now.
He also underlined the choice facing the electorate in November with regards to him and his Republican opponent, warming to a Democratic theme that Mitt Romney will reward the wealthy with tax cuts and deregulate the banking industry should he win the election. President Obama outlined his priorities were to expand US manufacturing and exports in addition to reducing Americas burgeoning debt and improving education. His speech came after former President Bill Clinton spoke on Wednesday evening, his contribution being widely hailed as a hugely significant political boost to President Obama.
